Yllaskaltio Hotel
If you’re planning a magical family holiday or couples’ getaway, take a look at the Ylläskaltio. This modern, simple hotel is in one of Finland’s biggest ski areas – and there’s plenty to do off the slopes too, from reindeer safaris and husky sledding, to meeting Santa at the Elves’ Hideaway.
When you're not enjoying the wide open runs of Ylläs or snowmobiling through the wintery landscape, cosy up back at the hotel, have a drink in the bar or relax and make the most of the private sauna in your room - there's one in all of them. ROOM DESCRIPTIONS
All rooms have a flatscreen TV, hairdryer, fridge and kettle.
Twin room (approx. 23m²) - sleeps 1-2: Twin beds, private shower, WC and private sauna.
Quad room (approx. 32.5m²)- sleeps 2-4: Mezzanine room with twin beds downstairs and upstairs, private shower, WC and private sauna. Please note, the stairs in some rooms are steep.
Akas Cabin
Dotted in-between the trees at the bottom of the Ylläs fell are the Äkäs Cabins. The authentic Scandinavian-style cabins, with rustic log cladding, give the accommodation a real Christmas-card feel. All of the lodges have their own private sauna for you to relax in, as well as a log burning fireplace, so you can sit up late, swapping stories and toasting marshmallows. And as all the cabins are located in woodland, the tranquil seclusion will allow you to feel at one with nature.

All cabins are non-smoking and have a kitchenette with hobs, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle, as well as a flatscreen TV, free WiFi and hairdryer. Towels, linen and end-of-stay cleaning are included. Safes are available at reception.
Studio - sleeps 2-3: Twin beds, living area with extra sofa bed when booked for three, private shower, WC, sauna and log fire with firewood.
Akas Alp Apartments
The Äkäs Apartments are great if you look forward to cosy evenings in. With fully equipped kitchens, you don’t have to worry about putting back on your snow suit to walk over to the main hotel for food. Instead you can whip up some yummy home-cooked meals. The local supermarket, Jounin Kauppa, is also only a short walk away so you can stock up on essentials for your stay.

2 bedroom apartment - sleeps 1-6 (max 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children up to 12 years): Two twin bedrooms, living room with double sofa bed, drying cupboard for clothes, private shower, WC and sauna.
Please note: The double sofa beds are suitable for 1 adult or 2 children up to 12 years. There is no separating door between the bedroom and living area in the 1 bedroom apartment.
Yllas Log Cabins
Highly recommended, idyllic, high-quality modern log cabins, dotted around the woods in a variety of scenic locations. Excellent cross-country skiing starts from the door. Cabins are located within 500-950m of the Akas hotel and the nearest ski bus stop. The large village supermarket is also up to 1km away (5-30 minutes' walk) from the cabins. There is also a choice of cafés, bars and restaurants for those who prefer to eat out.
All cabins vary in appearance and location and may be round or flat log or adjoin another cabin. Cabins can be terraced, end of terrace or semi-detached.

All of our Log Cabins have shower, WC, sauna, fireplace (wood included), TV, VCR or DVD, vacuum, iron, drying closet and washing machine.

3 rooms + mezzanine, 57m²+20m² (C6) can sleep 3-6 people in 2 twin bedrooms and a large mezzanine with 2 beds
4-room cabin, 64m²+20m² (D6) can sleep 3-6 people in 3 twin bedrooms, with 2 toilets and shower
4-room + mezzanine, 64m²+20m² (D8) can sleep 3-8 people in 3 twin bedrooms and 2 beds in large mezzanine, with 2 toilets and shower. Bookings of 6 or less persons may be allocated a 3 bedroom cabin without a mezzanine
7-room + mezzanine 'Hillankukka Big', 130m²+54m² (E0) can sleep 4-12 people in 4 twin bedrooms downstairs all with en suite shower/WC, 2 large twin bedrooms upstairs with sloping roof and sliding doors, sharing additional downstairs showers/WC/sauna. This cabin, called 'Hillanukka Big', is highly recommended and located in a peaceful scenic central wooded location
Villa Armas Cabins
Excellent value, modern, well-equipped and attractively furnished cabins located next door to the cross-country trails, 200m from the ski bus stop and 700m from the village centre.
Cabins are self-catering, but guests have the option to pre-book half board with buffet breakfast and 3 course buffet evening meal taken at Akas Hotel, which is just 200m away.

Akas Cabin
These cosy traditional open-plan log cabins, are in a highly scenic and peaceful wooded location 5 minutes' walk (250-450m) from Äkäs Hotel. Excellent extensive cross-country ski trails start from the door. Äkäs Hotel itself is an atmospheric, friendly hotel situated in the traditional unspoiled Lappish village of Äkäslompolo. Its popular bar, dance floor, restaurant and night club form the hub of local entertainment. Cabin guests have free use of the hotel swimming pool, sauna and fitness room. The cross-country ski trails start from just outside, the downhill ski area is reached in a few minutes by the ski bus (free for hotel and cabin guests) and the well-stocked large supermarket is approx. 10-15 minutes' walk away.

The ski bus (free to hotel and apartment guests) leaves from the hotel, and the village centre, with its well-stocked supermarket, restaurants and bars, is a 5-10 minutes' walk away
