Operator's View
"This short break is packed full of fun-filled activities. I love the fact that it gives you the chance to try so many experiences in such a short space of time and I find the winter cottages at Jeris just ideal for families. These are real activities, not just 5 minute tastes and I think that offers so much to adults and children alike...." Amy Walkington-Gray

3 nights / 4 days itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Lapland
Today you will arrive in the winter wonderland of Finnish Lapland! On arrival at Kittila Airport, high above the Arctic, you will be transferred to your accommodation. Your cosy winter cottage awaits you at Jeris and dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant.
Day 2
Reindeer & Huskies
We kick things off with two absolute favourites today (although the final order of activities will be confirmed on your arrival). After a hearty breakfast, you will meet your guide for a short transfer to a local reindeer farm. At the farm you will learn that reindeer are not only important to Father Christmas, but the whole of Lapland. The herder will introduce you to some of their animals and you will have a go at lassoing them before enjoying a short reindeer sleigh ride.
?
Lunch is included today and, weather conditions permitting, you will head to the nearby Winter Village, for lunch in the ice restaurant. If conditions mean the ice restaurant is unavailable then youll dine in a cosy wooden kota (traditional tipi) around an open fire.
?
In the afternoon, its time for some paw-power as you take to the trails for a dog sled safari. The adults will travel together in teams of two and the children will all get tucked up in a sled which is pulled by the guides sleigh. Full driving instructions and a safety briefing will be given before the eager dogs set off with you in tow. Dog sledding is such an unusual and exciting way to explore, the whole family are sure to love it. You will travel around 6km in total.
?
This evening a festive dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant, complete with some local specialities so you really will get a taste of Lapland.
Day 3
Snowmobile Safari, Snow Fun Activities & Father Christmas
After breakfast at Jeris, you will head out on snowmobiles today for an adventure in the winter wilds. Travelling in pairs, the adults will be given a full briefing on how to control the snowmobiles and will have the chance to drive the machines (drivers must be over 18 and hold a full driving licence). The children will all ride together in a special sleigh pulled by the guides snowmobile.
?
In convoy, you will follow the marked trails through the winter landscape and will get a sense of just how big this wilderness is. In total, you will cover around 20km.
?
A warming lunch will be served back at Hotel Jeris and then the afternoon will be filled with a range of snow-based activities with the family. Youll join guides to make the most of the Arctic weather as you snowshoe and cross-country ski along the snowy trails and zoom down the toboggan slope. Theres also the chance to test your skills at ice hockey and there are even mini snowmobiles for children to get in the drivers seat.
?
Visit Father Christmas - For families, meeting Father Christmas in Lapland is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
This particular experience starts with a snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride across the frozen lake and into the snow-covered forest. Your mission is to locate Father Christmas cosy cabin, which is tucked away in a secret location. As you travel you really should keep an eye out for elves on the way too, as theyre sometimes seen close by.
If there is a small group of families who are due to meet Father Christmas on the same day, then you will all gather together with one of Santas helpers and will enjoy warm drinks. Then, one at a time, families will be led by one of the elves to meet the great man himself. If it is just your family on the day, then you will be guided straight to his cabin door.
Your private meeting with Father Christmas will last approximately 10 minutes, so you will have plenty of time to discuss your childrens Christmas wishes and take photos.

Day 4
Departure
Your time in Lapland comes to an end today and you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your return flights home.
Accommodation

Winter Cottages
Winter Cottages are on the shores of Lake Jerisjarvi around 20km from the nearest village, offering families an idyllic retreat in the fell wilderness of Finnish Lapland. All come fully equipped.
Room Types
Type A
Type A winter cottages (30 square metres) are, on the whole, the closest to the hotel and are ideal for families with small children.
The cabins can vary in size but all sleep from 3-4 people in one spacious room with a sleeping alcove for two people (generally with a double bed) and a pull-out sofa bed for two more. They are all privately-owned and so the décor and style can vary but each has a cosy wood-burning stove, clothes drying cupboard, kitchenette, television, shower room, toilet and a private sauna.
Type B
Type B winter cottages (63 square metres) sleep from 4-5 people and are ideal for families of four or more. There is a living room area with kitchenette and wood-burning stove, one bedroom for two people and a loft area (accessed by a steep ladder) which can sleep up to four more.
Type C
Type C winter cottages (70 square metres) are the largest available and sleep from 5-7 people. There are two bedrooms (each for two people) downstairs and a loft sleeping area for a further two (or three if you don’t mind being very cosy!) people accessed via a steep staircase.
Resort

Jeris
Jeris really encapsulates Finnish Lapland with its snowy forests, frozen lakes and winter fells. We always think of it as being like a haven with its relaxing atmosphere and slower pace of life. With easy access from Kittilä and Enontekio Airports, it is always a favourite with our guests many of whom return year after year for their annual fix of all things Lappish.
