Aurora Hunter
7 nights - January - March
Northern Lights Snowmobile Safari
Duration: Two hours
An evening excursion when, with the night sky overhead, you head out through the wilderness to a vantage point in the hope of seeing the fabled and magical Northern Lights. Two adults share a snowmobile.
Northern Lights Forest Trek
Duration: One Hour
You will be guided on a walk through the forest to a spectacular viewpoint, overlooking the border-village of Karesuando. From here, you may be lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights dancing above the village.
Call of the Wild Husky Safari
Duration: One and a half hours
An unforgettable adventure into the wilderness, pulled by your own team of beautiful huskies. Two adults share a sled and dog team.
Reindeer Camp
Duration: Approx two and a half hours
Learn about herding and lassoing reindeer from reindeer farmers. Then venture into the wilderness on a reindeer sleigh safari.
Snowshoe Introduction
Duration: Two hours
This guided snowshoe tour is a fun and simple introduction to an age-old means of traversing the Arctic winter terrain.
Sami Museum
The small Sami museum at Hetta (about 50 mins drive) provides a fascinating insight into the culture and traditions of the Sami people.
Knife Factory
Duration: Minimum One Hour
Situated on the Swedish side of Karesuando, the trip includes a brief tour of this traditional knife factory and an opportunity to see the importance of knives in everyday Sami life.

Accommodation




Hotel Hetan Majatalo
Hetta is located in the far north of Lapland, lying alongside Lake Ounasjarvi, with dense forest beyond. The village has an attractive church, with a distinctive slender bell tower. It has a handful of hotels and, despite its remote location, a few local services and amenities, including a supermarket. Many Sami people are still resident in Hetta and the village is proud of its heritage and has a small museum depicting the Sami way of life.
Room Types
The hotel rooms have all the conveniences: toilet, shower, television, radio, mini fridge, drying closet, kettle, hair dryer and comfortable beds for 2-6 persons.
Most of the rooms have second floor with two beds and a skylight window. Thus all of the rooms have enough space for 1-6 persons.
Two rooms are made specially for the needs of handicapped persons.
WiFi works in all the hotel rooms.




Arctic Star Hotel
Situated on the outskirts of Swedish Karesuando, the Arctic Star is a traditional and friendly hotel offering superb views over both the majestic Muonio River and the Kaarevaara fell. Whilst simple and comfortable, the hotel has recently undergone a programme of modernisation and has all the essentials you need for a good stay including an open plan bar and dining area. The rooms are simple and cosy, with room upgrades available.

Fika Rooms - Double (Standard)

These double rooms offer a generous 15.8 square metres of space, with en-suite facilities. Split over two floors, these rooms are named after a Swedish everyday institution: fika. Fika is a time to relax, usually with coffee and cake, and reflect. With the hotel located at the heart of True Lapland and surrounded by sprawling plains of Arctic tundra, we couldn't think of a better place to make time for fika.

The Davvi Arctic Lodge is a charming, simple hotel set on a quiet, secluded hillside in the border-village of Karesuando. The beautiful restaurant, its circular design inspired by the shape of a Sami reindeer corral, is the hotel’s centrepiece and from here you can enjoy panoramic views over the snow-covered hillside to Swedish Lapland located just across the border.
Deep in the heart of True Lapland, and located on the offical Northern Lights route, Karesuando offers once-in-life-time Arctic experiences without the crowds. For those looking to stay in the Swedish side of the village we also offer Northern Light stays at the Arctic Star hotel.
Room Types
Double/Twin Room (Sleeps 2-5)
The main hotel building consists of 25 rooms split over two floors and includes a mixture of twin and double rooms. On the upper floor, the rooms form part of the circular reindeer corral build of the hotel, and the rooms on the lower floor span the north and south wings of the building. All rooms are en-suite (shower room) and guests have access to the hotel sauna and hot tub (local charges apply).

Aurora House Superior
Rebuilt in the summer of 2019, the Aurora House offers some of the best accommodation available in Lapland. There are two Superior rooms (approx. 32 square meters each) which feature a sleeping area and a lounge area. The rooms are modern, airy and spacious.

Aurora House Deluxe
Rebuilt in the summer of 2019, the Aurora House offers some of the best accommodation available in Lapland. There are two Deluxe rooms (approx. 26 square meters each) which feature a large bathroom with private sauna and free-standing bath tub.

Sauna - Semi-detached - Timber built
The semi-detached cabins are simple and cosy and all offer a porch area for storage and a private sauna. The cabin has an open-plan layout with either double or twin beds and a sofa bed. All cabins are located in the grounds of the hotel and are just a short walk from the main hotel building. Please note that if the cabins are filled to maximum occupancy levels, space will be limited.
Two Bedroom Cabin (Sleeps 5-6)
Sauna - Detached - Timber built
There are two large, detached cabins at the Davvi Arctic Lodge. These two-bedroom cabins can sleep up to 6, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, as well as a sofa bed in the separate lounge area that can sleep two children (or one adult). All cabins have their own private sauna and are located just a short walk from the main hotel.

Aurora House - Deluxe
The deluxe room is perfect for two. This cosy, double room comes complete with modern features such as underfloor heating, a free standing bath, double sinks, a traditional Finnish sauna and a wood burning stove. The room is located in the grounds of the hotel and accessed via a lobby shared with just one other room.
Aurora House - Superior
The superior room offers spacious, contemporary design and is the largest room type available. Our favourite feature within this designer room is certainly the comfortable seating area that surrounds your own wood burning stove. Whilst the room is designed for two, additional beds can be added if required. Located in the grounds of the hotel, access is via a lobby shared with the deluxe room.




Davvi Fell House
The Davvi Arctic Lodge is a charming, simple hotel set on a quiet, secluded hillside in the border-village of Karesuando. The beautiful restaurant, its circular design inspired by the shape of a Sami reindeer corral, is the hotel’s centrepiece and from here you can enjoy panoramic views over the snow-covered hillside to Swedish Lapland located just across the border.
Room Types
The Fell House provides spacious accommodation, ideal for groups and families. The two bedroom family rooms sleep five to six persons, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom as well as a sofa in the sitting room. The three bedroom family rooms accommodate seven to nine persons with one double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, as well as a sofa bed in the sitting room.
The Fell House is 150m away from the main Davvi Arctic Lodge building where meals are taken. It is connected by a well-lit, purpose built footpath through the forest, which is on an incline with steps and may not be suitable for the elderly, infirm or people with walking difficulties. All Fell House accommodation has private facilities (shower & WC) as well as a television and DVD player.
Resort

Hetta
A quaint village in the far north of Finland, Hetta is a perfect example of a True Lapland experience and a perfect base from which to go in search of the real Father Christmas. Hetta's surroundings consist of miles of snowcapped forest draped along the side of the stunning frozen Lake Ounasjärvi. The vast wilderness that encircles Hetta has been home to the indigenous Sámi people for generations, and because of this area's lack of commercialisation, many Sámi families are still resident.

Karesuando
Karesuando is a twin village located on both sides of the border between Sweden and Finland (Karesuvanto) with a population of just over 1,000. Situated approx 300km north of the Arctic Circle and located amid majestic, undisturbed and imposing scenery, Karesuando is home to Sweden's most northerly church. The village is set on the edge of a vast wilderness where beauty, nature and wildlife abound. From the hill Kaare-vaara you have a fantastic view of Sweden,Finland, Norway and the mountain Pältsa.
